The Flemish Road and Traffic Agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer) will carry out essential works in the Four Arms Tunnel. These interventions will begin on September 25 at 8:30 PM and continue until September 28 at 5:30 AM.
Significant traffic disruptions are anticipated around the construction site, notably affecting the East Ring (R0), Avenue de Tervueren (N3), and surrounding roads. The tunnel will be completely closed, preventing passage through the intersection via this route.
Certain movements will also be prohibited at the Quatre Bras intersection, including left turns. Drivers will be required to turn right and use the Groenendael or Wezembeek-Oppem interchanges to perform a U-turn and reach their destination.
Specific diversion routes will be implemented: travel from Tervueren to Brussels, from Tervueren to Waterloo/Namur, from Brussels to Zaventem, and from Namur to Waterloo will be rerouted via Wezembeek-Oppem. Journeys from Brussels to Tervueren, Brussels to Zaventem, and Zaventem to Brussels will be redirected via Groenendael.
These works are part of the ongoing renovation of the Four Arms Tunnel, a modernization program in progress since 2019. To minimize the impact on daily commutes, the interventions have been scheduled for nighttime and weekends.
Flemish authorities nevertheless recommend that users allow for extra travel time and, if possible, avoid the area during the construction period.
