Four years after the success of "Night Songs", Yael Naim returns with "Solaire", an album reflecting a profound inner transformation. This new work narrates a personal journey marked by a midlife crisis, the death of her father, the decision to produce independently after years with David Donatien, the Covid pandemic, and the shock of October 7th.
Faced with these trials, Yael Naim chose the path of doubt, complexity, and dialogue, rather than taking sides. She now engages with women of diverse origins and faiths to promote a message of peace, resilience, and sisterhood, aligning with the spirit of "Solaire": learning to make peace with one's own light after the storm.
Considered the most personal album of her career, "Solaire" is a song of free and emancipated love. Yael Naim explains that she went through a period of storms before understanding that she needed to bring light to her fears to see more clearly and accept her imperfections. She states her desire to create her own happiness now, independent of external events.
In the face of global turmoil, she emphasizes the choice to embrace light, however small, and the collective impact of such a step. She feels supported by peace activists she has met and finds in music an opening to other narratives, reaffirming everyone's capacity to access their best selves.
For this album, Yael Naim produced everything from start to finish, also directing ten music videos. This creative autonomy allowed her to explore new, more electronic sounds and take her time, nearly five years. Each song represents a step towards liberation, addressing themes like self-perception ("La Fille pas cool"), fear of the other ("Rabbit Hole"), and the toxic relationship with the living ("Dream", born from an exchange with activist Reine Willing).
Yael Naim describes "Solaire" as her most audacious and necessary album, where she feels most fulfilled. To celebrate its release, she will present an exceptional new live performance, a sensory journey with surprising, magical, and immersive scenography.
