Central to this event is the exhibition Alluvions, by Esther Babulik, Aurore Scotet, Jeanne Pruvot Simonneaux, and Léa Brami, which questions what remains after disappearance. The artists explain: 'Mourning is a loss, but it is also a layer that settles and permanently changes the ground.' The concept of alluvion, sediment that transforms the landscape, is explored through painting, sculpture, textile, and installation.
Aurore Scotet works with moving materials through painting and video. Esther Babulik creates sculptures bridging bodies, materials, and life forms. Léa Brami composes spaces from objects and fragments carrying stories, while Jeanne Pruvot Simonneaux uses textiles to evoke presence and absence.
Related events extend the experience: on November 7 at 2 PM, Léa Brami invites the public to her narrated tour, Habiter les vestiges, exploring artifacts of struggle from the 19th and 20th centuries. On November 1 at 3 PM, Jeanne Pruvot Simonneaux and Anna Czapski present Nous reviendrons, a sensory experience focused on the ghosts of places.
Concurrently, the exhibition L’image élargie, from November 5 to 29 at the Chapelle de Boondael, brings together a collective of artists from URsquare workshops. They examine photography in the digital age, transforming it into material, texture, or sculpture through mixed media.
Alluvions is held at KULT XL Expo (Wiertzstraat 23) until November 8, with specific opening hours on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. L’image élargie is accessible from November 5 to 29 at the Chapelle de Boondael. Both exhibitions are free.
