The communal council of Uccle witnessed the inauguration of the Ugeux project on November 3, 2026, an ambitious renovation by BinHôme and the Brussels-Capital Region Housing Society (SLRB). This new living space in the heart of Melkriek combines social housing, community areas, and a local shop, with a focus on sustainability.

Located in the heart of the Melkriek garden city, building 1-7 on Georges Ugeux street in Uccle underwent a major renovation. The project increased the number of social housing units from four to seven: three studios, two one-bedroom apartments, and two units adapted for people with reduced mobility. The initiative particularly aims to meet the needs of the elderly and isolated residents by prioritizing accessibility and comfort.
Beyond its residential purpose, Ugeux seeks to strengthen the neighborhood's dynamics. The building now houses spaces dedicated to the PCS Melkriek, a social partner of BinHôme, as well as a multipurpose room and an area for a local business. Landscaped gardens have also been added to foster encounters and exchanges between generations.
The building's transformation is based on an ambitious environmental approach, including the preservation of existing structures, material reuse, improved energy performance, and the integration of solar panels. This approach earned the project recognition as a laureate of the RENOLAB program, which supports innovative initiatives in sustainable and circular renovation in Brussels.
