The Sweet Revolution initiative, led by Fairtrade Belgium and the Communes of Fair Trade, aims to inspire the creation of delicious desserts using fair trade, organic, and local ingredients. For its second edition, a national dessert competition is being held, and Jette is enthusiastically inviting its residents to participate.
Participants can enter individually by creating a dessert that includes at least one fair trade ingredient, one local ingredient, and one organic ingredient. A photo of the dessert with proof of the ingredients used must be submitted on the website www.sweetrevolution.be.
For those who prefer a group effort, the commune of Jette is organizing specific activities as part of this national competition. Students from the Hotel and Food section at the Joie de Vivre school, at the Crocq Midi restaurant, will prepare two sustainable desserts on Tuesday, October 13: a rice pudding with almond milk, poached pear, and pecan nut praline, as well as a chocolate and beer cake.
These desserts will be offered as part of a lunch, including an appetizer and main course, also prepared by the students. Registrations are open for a 2 or 3-course menu. The goal is to win the public prize for the best dessert, thereby increasing Jette's chances of winning.
The fair trade week and dessert competition will take place on Tuesday, October 13, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, at the Joie de Vivre school, located at Avenue Jean Joseph Crocq, 10. Prices for the menu are: appetizer €3, main course €9-11, dessert €4. Registrations can be made at the Joie de Vivre school, contact: Ms. Theizen at 0489.22.04.10.
