In anticipation of strong winds forecast by the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM), the Municipality of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Bruxelles Environnement are announcing the closure of all municipal parks and green spaces, including the Sonian Forest, starting this Friday, October 23rd at 1 PM.

The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) predicts gusts of at least 80 km/h. Municipal parks are generally closed when wind speeds reach 70 km/h in summer and 80 km/h in winter. The Parc de Woluwe, managed by Bruxelles Environnement, is considered "fragile" and is therefore closed from 60 km/h in summer and 70 km/h in winter.
These measures are taken to ensure public safety. It is noted that anyone who contravenes this prohibition of access to green spaces will be held 100% responsible in case of an accident.
Given the IRM's forecasts, parks located within the municipal territory, including the cemetery, as well as green spaces managed by Bruxelles Environnement (including the Sonian Forest), will be closed from this Friday, October 23rd at 1 PM. The restriction of access is expected to end on Saturday, October 24th.
Across the entire regional territory, Bruxelles Environnement recommends avoiding travel near trees.
