The VIF platform brings together several key bodies: the municipal administration, the CPAS (Public Centre for Social Welfare), the local police of the Brussels-West Police Zone, the EVA cell, and the Police Assistance Service for Victims (SAPV) of the same police zone. The objective is to offer concrete and rapid assistance to individuals facing various forms of violence.
It specifically targets victims of violence between current or former partners, domestic violence against minors, and domestic or sexual violence against individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community. The violence considered includes physical, verbal, psychological (threats, blackmail, control, isolation), and economic abuse.
The platform's operation is based on personalized case management. A platform member contacts the victim to assess the situation and identify urgent needs, which can vary significantly. These needs include housing (assistance in finding accommodation or temporary shelter), financial and material support (assessment of social and financial aid), administrative and legal support (through the Lawyers Victim Assistance of the Brussels Bar), medical aid, and psychological support.
The platform collaborates with other organizations in Brussels and across Belgium to find the most suitable solutions. It ensures the confidentiality of information and respects the victim's pace, without any obligation to file a complaint. The service is free and confidential, accessible regardless of administrative or financial status.
For any help or advice, including concerns about someone in your circle, you can contact the platform at prevention1083@ganshoren.brussels. In case of an emergency requiring immediate intervention, always call 112.
