Iriscare is launching a call for projects to create convalescence units in the Brussels-Capital Region, in collaboration with INAMI, to relieve hospitals and offer an alternative to hospitalization.

The initiative aims to meet the growing needs related to an aging population and the increase in chronic diseases. It plans for the creation of 130 convalescence beds for the Brussels Region.
This scheme relies on co-financing between the federal level (INAMI) and the regional level (Iriscare). Federal funding will cover care and rehabilitation services, while regional funding will cover operating costs, infrastructure, and staff not covered by the federal package.
Key objectives include establishing a structured convalescence offering in Brussels for the first time, improving care continuity between hospital and home, reducing prolonged hospital stays in the post-acute phase, and providing a qualitative and safe alternative for patients requiring temporary functional rehabilitation.
The call for projects also aims to support a bilingual organization accessible to the entire Brussels population. Selected operators will need to open units compliant with the INAMI agreement and regional requirements.
Application files must be submitted no later than November 30, 2026, by email to reva@iriscare.brussels. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
