The total number of injured individuals on Brussels roads has decreased by nearly 20% compared to 2025, reaching the lowest level in five years.

This positive trend affects the majority of road users. Injured pedestrians are down 20%, cyclists by 15%, electric scooter users by 35%, motorized two-wheel riders by 17%, and car occupants by 13%. For most of these categories, the 2026 figures are the lowest recorded in the past five years.
The evolution is also very encouraging regarding the most serious accidents. With 82 serious injuries recorded, the decrease reaches 34% compared to the previous year. While 2025 saw a peak, the 2026 level is lower than those of 2023 and 2024, marking the best result in five years.
Regarding road fatalities, each victim is one too many. However, with four people deceased in the first six months of the year, Brussels shows a better record than in previous years.
