The Brussels City CPAS has initiated the Borgval project to renovate the Canler residence, a complex of 82 public housing units for the elderly, located in the heart of the capital.

The Brussels City CPAS has launched the Borgval project, aimed at renovating the Canler residence. This residential complex, situated in the heart of Brussels, comprises 82 housing units primarily intended for individuals over 65, offering them a suitable living environment within a central and easily accessible urban setting.
To minimize the impact of the work on residents, the renovation will be organized in phases, allowing for the temporary relocation of affected inhabitants. Several improvements have already been made in recent years, notably to the roofs, elevators, fire safety systems, and certain technical equipment.
Currently, a more comprehensive renovation is required to meet current standards for comfort, safety, and energy performance. The work will include bringing the ventilation system (system C) into compliance, replacing all old window frames, insulating the sloped roofs with slate cladding, and insulating the interior walls of the non-insulated front facades in the Anspach wing.
This project aligns with the objectives of the Brussels-Capital Region regarding the renovation of existing buildings and energy transition, particularly within the framework of the RENOLUTION strategy, which aims to sustainably improve the energy performance of Brussels's building stock.
