On the International Day of Older Persons, the Samen Toujours association launches the "Simple as a flower" campaign, encouraging citizens to offer a flower to seniors in their neighborhood to combat isolation.

On this October 1st, for the International Day of Older Persons, the association Samen Toujours and the mutual aid networks it federates are launching the "Simple as a flower" campaign. The goal is to invite citizens to make a simple gesture to combat the isolation of the elderly by offering a flower to an older person in their neighborhood.
This year, over 11,000 flowers will be distributed in public spaces in Brussels and several Walloon communes. Behind this symbolic gesture lies a strong conviction: encounters and social connections play an essential role in the well-being of our elders and help prevent the negative effects of social isolation.
To participate, citizens can find distribution points and times on the Samen Toujours website.
This initiative is supported by Iriscare, which funds projects promoting the well-being and social connection of seniors in Brussels. Samen Toujours, along with two of its member organizations, Bras dessus Bras dessous and Accolage, receive optional subsidies granted by Iriscare for this purpose.
On this International Day of Older Persons, the association encourages participation in this action to make neighborhoods more supportive and convivial.
