The 4th Citizen Assembly for Climate, initiated by Bruxelles Environnement, brings together randomly selected Brussels residents to formulate recommendations on making our digital uses more responsible and inclusive.

Digital technology, omnipresent in our daily lives, already accounts for 10% of national electricity consumption in Belgium, a share that could triple by 2050. Globally, digital activities generate around 4% of greenhouse gas emissions.
These issues will be at the heart of the 4th Citizen Assembly for Climate, organized by Bruxelles Environnement and Paradigm. Participants will exchange with specialists to address individual realities, as what is practical for some can be an obstacle for others. The 2024 digital inclusion barometer shows that 40% of people aged 16 to 74 in Belgium are in a situation of digital vulnerability.
Over 6 working sessions, members will focus on key questions: How can the Region orient its services to better address the challenges of responsible digital use? How can the environmental and social impact of digital technology be limited at the regional level?
The recommendations from this assembly will be presented to the Brussels Government in early 2027.
