This autumn, the Jette Cultural Centre, in collaboration with various municipal services, is organizing a cycle dedicated to death, titled ‘Light on Death’. Through diverse activities, it will address the cycle of seasons and life, grief, and the relationship with departed loved ones and death in general. These encounters aim to help people come to terms with absence and celebrate memory, in a spirit of openness and sharing.
From October 19 to 24, a AUTUMN WORKSHOP (6-8 YEARS) called ‘EXPLORER SPIRITS’ will allow children to create lanterns and offerings to commemorate the light of the past summer.
On Wednesday, October 21 at 7 PM, a SCREENING & MEETING titled ‘THOSE WHO WATCH OVER’ will feature a documentary by Karima Saïdi about those who tend to their deceased loved ones' graves. The screening will be followed by a meeting with the director and Arthur Wegnez, head of the Jette Cemetery.
On Saturday, November 7 at 3 PM, the ‘MORTAL TEA TIME’ will offer a rare opportunity for open discussion on the universal theme of death in a warm atmosphere, facilitated by Fatima Chaoui.
On Tuesday, November 10 from 6:30 PM to 9 PM, ‘THE NIGHT OF LIGHTS AT JETTE CEMETERY’ will offer a nocturnal discovery of the site with a luminous procession through the cemetery alleys and a horn concert by students from the French-speaking Academy.
Finally, on Tuesday, November 17 at 7 PM, a HYBRID CONFERENCE-MEETING titled ‘THE JOURNEY OF GRIEF’ will be held in partnership with the commune's Victim Assistance service. It will feature Caroline Fierens, therapist, Jean Bruggeman, and Kevin Aubry, music therapist, for a conversation blending clinical expertise, lived experience, and musical punctuation.
