For the 2026-2027 academic year, the ULB is introducing exceptional aid for students whose income does not qualify them for standard reductions, but for whom paying the full tuition fee remains challenging.

The aim of this measure is to support students who are not eligible for tuition fee reductions granted by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation but who experience financial difficulties in paying the full amount of €1194. This exceptional aid can reduce the tuition fee to €835, representing a saving of €359.
To be eligible, students must meet several conditions: be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program at ULB without a prior equivalent diploma, be required to pay the full tuition fee without increased rights, hold Belgian or assimilated status, or be an EU national with parents working in Belgium. This aid does not apply to specialization master's, doctoral, or certificate programs, nor to students whose parental income is below the thresholds set by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
Applications are open from October 15 to November 15, 2026, inclusive. The application form is available via MonULB, in the « Ma Situation Financière » section. Required documents include parents' tax assessment notices for 2024 income, a household composition certificate dated less than three months prior, a certificate of enrollment if siblings are in higher education in Belgium, and any necessary supporting documents for additional income.
Complete applications must be submitted by November 15. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applications will be ranked based on household income, from lowest to highest, with consideration for justified special circumstances. A response will be provided by mid-January 2027 at the latest. The tuition fee payment deadline remains February 1, 2027, regardless of the application outcome.
For any questions or further financial difficulties, the Student Social Service (SSE) at ULB is available to provide information and support students in their procedures.
