From October 7 to 18, Ganshoren is participating in the Sweet Revolution, a campaign by Fairtrade Belgium aimed at encouraging more sustainable and equitable food consumption. This initiative, now in its second edition, offers friendly and accessible activities for everyone.
A highlight is a national dessert contest. Residents over 18 are invited to create a dessert containing at least one Fairtrade ingredient, one local ingredient, and one organic ingredient. Participants must share their recipe and a photo on the website www.sweetrevolution.be. An individual prize will be awarded, and the municipality with the most participants will also receive a collective reward.
Ganshoren aims to encourage a maximum number of citizens to take on this challenge, as more participants mean higher chances of winning the collective prize.
For the younger generation, the municipality is organizing a coloring activity. A3-sized drawings will be distributed in participating schools and structures, as well as at the reception of the municipal administration located at avenue Charles-Quint 140. The completed artworks can be displayed in classrooms or submitted to the municipality. As a thank you, each participating child will receive a sheet of Sweet Revolution stickers.
Through these initiatives, Ganshoren intends to raise awareness among both children and adults about the issues of fair trade and sustainability, while celebrating creativity, the joy of cooking, and conviviality.
