The Herrmann-Debroux station, terminus of STIB line 5 in Auderghem, will undergo a comprehensive modernization with a 3 million euro budget, aiming to improve accessibility, safety, and comfort for thousands of daily travelers.

Following renovations at the Maelbeek and Delta stations, Bruxelles Mobilité continues the modernization of the metro network with a refurbishment project for the Herrmann-Debroux station. This initiative aims to enhance the accessibility, safety, comfort, and equipment performance of this strategic station in southeastern Brussels.
Considered a gateway to the STIB network for thousands of travelers daily, whether coming from southeastern Brussels or as commuters, the station must offer a high-quality environment: accessible, bright, and with functioning escalators.
Commissioned in 1985, the Herrmann-Debroux station, located in Auderghem, serves numerous travelers connecting with the metro, tram, and several bus lines. It also houses several emblematic works of art.
Concrete improvements include the replacement of four aging escalators, the removal of the old mezzanine kiosk to free up space, the installation of tactile guidance, and the adaptation of access points. Platforms and passenger areas will be upgraded with new tiling, cleaning of blue stone and marble surfaces, and improved lighting. The artworks present in the station will also be highlighted.
Essential technical work will be carried out, including the renewal of the fire detection system, compliance of safety equipment, adaptation of electrical installations, and refurbishment of various technical infrastructures to ensure the station's reliability and performance. The interventions are scheduled to conclude by the end of 2027.
Furthermore, Bruxelles Mobilité will finalize the renovation of the Maelbeek and Delta stations in March and June 2027, respectively. The Etangs Noirs (2027) and Comte de Flandre (2028) stations will subsequently benefit from refurbishment.
