The STIB is launching an infrastructure and urban development project on Avenue du Roi Albert in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, featuring tram track renewal and stop accessibility improvements.

A public inquiry is underway for a significant project by the Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company (STIB) on Avenue du Roi Albert. The works aim to modernize public transport infrastructure within the municipality.
The project includes renewing tram tracks and associated technologies, as well as redeveloping the 'Hunderenveld' city entrance from 'facade to facade'. The current terminus for bus line n°20 will be relocated to Avenue du Hunderenveld, at the Parc Monnet stop, with public space redevelopment to accommodate this new terminus.
Tram platforms will be adapted to accommodate T4000 type trams on line n°19. Additionally, the tram and bus stops 'Vereman', 'Azur', 'Hunderenveld', and 'Parc Monnet' will be brought up to accessibility standards.
This project falls within areas of regional interest and public service facilities, under the specific land use plan (PPAS) n° 95, 'Ancienne Eglise'. The public inquiry period runs from 08/10/2026 to 06/11/2026.
The project file is available online at https://openpermits.brussels/fr/enquetes_publiques and by appointment at the Maison de la Participation (chaussée de Gand 1228) or the municipal administration (avenue du Roi Albert 33). Technical explanations can be obtained by appointment at 02/563 59 25.
Observations and complaints can be submitted in writing to the College of Mayors and Aldermen at Avenue du Roi Albert, 33 1082 Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, via email to nmebarka@berchem.brussels, or orally at the municipal administration. A consultation committee meeting will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2026, starting at 09:00 at the municipal administration.
