The Commune of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe has initiated a public inquiry regarding the construction of a new French-speaking daycare center and a commercial space, as part of the 'Cité Moderne' sustainable neighborhood contract.

The project, located at Dokter Schweitzerplein, includes a daycare facility with 70 places divided into 6 sections, featuring a reception area, staff facilities, and outdoor spaces. It also incorporates a commercial area.
This public inquiry, running from November 9, 2026, to December 8, 2026, aims to gather public feedback on various urban planning regulation deviations, including issues related to roofing, construction depth, and the preservation of permeable surfaces.
The project file is available online at https://openpermits.brussels/fr/enquetes_publiques and can be consulted by appointment at the Maison de la Participation (chaussée de Gand 1228) or the municipal administration (avenue du Roi Albert 33).
Observations can be submitted in writing to the Collège des Bourgmestre et Echevins, via email to nmebarka@berchem.brussels, or verbally at the municipal administration.
A consultation committee meeting will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2026, starting at 09:15 at the municipal administration, to hear from individuals who have specifically requested to be heard.
