As every year, Brussels Environment is organizing a sale of standing timber. This will take place in October and will concern the Sonian Forest.
A total of 9 lots of timber will be offered for sale: 3,092 m³ of beech (with maple) and 220 m³ of oak (with ash and chestnut). This public sale is mainly aimed at timber merchants, given the size of the lots offered (average of 371 m³ per lot).
The felling and removal of trees are carried out for several reasons: forest regeneration, ensuring safety along roads and paths, and thinning for the benefit of future trees. These operations are part of the management plan approved by the Brussels government in April 2003.
The Sonian Forest in Brussels is sustainably managed (FSC® label no. IMO-FM/COC-23023), in accordance with the criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council.
The sale will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM, by sealed bids, at the premises of the 1st forest brigade, located at Sint-Hubertusdreef 19, in 1180 Uccle.
