As every year, Brussels Environment is organizing a standing timber sale, which will take place in October in the Brussels Sonian Forest. This public sale is mainly aimed at timber merchants, due to the volumes offered.
In total, 9 lots will be offered for sale, representing 3,092 m³ of beech (with maple) and 220 m³ of oak (with ash and chestnut). The average volume per lot is 371 m³.
The felling and sale of these trees serve several purposes: rejuvenating aging forest stands, securing roadways within and around wooded areas, and providing space for future trees to grow at the expense of less well-formed competitors. These extractions are part of the management plan approved by the Brussels Government in June 2019.
The management of the Sonian Forest is certified sustainable according to the criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council (certificate FSC® n° IMO-FM/COC-023023).
The public sale, by sealed bids, will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at precisely 10:00 AM at the premises of the 1st Forest Brigade site, Drève St-Hubert 19, 1180 Uccle.
