In anticipation of Tintin's centenary in January 2029, the Collège Belgique and the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) are organizing an international symposium dedicated to the famous comic strip and the work of Hergé. This event will take place on October 7 and 8 in Brussels.
The festivities will continue in Paris, where new conferences will be held on October 12 and 13 at the Collège de France.
The day of Wednesday, October 7, will kick off in Brussels, the hometown of the paper hero, with the launch of "Les Cultures de Tintin". A Tintinophile walk is scheduled for the morning in the city center.
In the afternoon, three inaugural conferences will be held at the Collège Belgique: "When Tintin was 30 or the prehistory of Tintinology" by Jacques Langlois, "Hergé, Jacobs: a line not so clear?" by Thierry Bellefroid, and "The Bruxellois in Tintin's albums" by Jean-Jacques De Gheyndt. A round table "Hergé's Brussels heritage" will bring together Kroll, Geluck, and Daniel Couvreur.
On Thursday, October 8, the work will continue at the ULB with two sessions: "The work, avatars and metamorphoses" and "Reception and social imagination". A round table on "Tintin's translations" will conclude the day.
